Frangipane (Almond Paste)

This is great in baked goods such as pain aux raisins (see the next post) or as a layer in a cake. It adds a subtle almond flavour.

Ingredients:
½ cup almond meal
¼ cup sugar
1 tbsp flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
3 tbsp butter

Instructions:
1. Mix all the ingredients together in a blender until fairly smooth.
2. Spread on pastries or cakes before baking them.
